He began engineering projects such as Wings’ Wild Life, Red Rose Speedway, five Hollies albums such as “The Air That I Breathe” “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother,” and The Dark Side of the Moon. For The Dark Side of the Moon, he received his first Grammy Award nomination. People soon began to think of him as a recording engineer.

Pilot, a Scottish pop-rock band, released three albums on Parsons’ label. Hits from these albums included “Magic” and “January.” He produced the second album as “Somewhere I’ve Never Travelled” for the American band “Ambrosia.”

He collaborated with guitarist Ian Bairnson on albums such as On Air, The Time Machine, and Try Anything Once.

Parsons was appointed Vice-President of EMI Studios Group in 1998. He quickly left this position but remained with the group as an associate producer and creative consultant.
