Robert Duvall is infatuated with two things: his wife, Luciana Pedraza, and tango. Duvall became interested in the deceptively simple-looking dance after seeing a Broadway performance of Tango Argentine in the 1990s. He traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he found his love for the tango, which grew into a passion. Duvall met his present wife coincidentally in Buenos Aires.
The two met while the actor was on his way to a bakery after discovering that the flower store had closed. According to the actor’s wife, her friends persuaded her to invite Duvall to a neighborhood party, which she eventually agreed to after some convincing. Pedraza and her companions did not anticipate Duvall to appear, but he did, and she had no idea who the actor was at the moment.
Robert Duvall and His Wife
They ultimately met and discovered a mutual passion for tango. Duvall said that one of the reasons he fell in love with his wife was because of her exquisite dancing. They were married in 2005. Before marrying, The Godfather actor spoke on the phone with his father-in-law, who was 20 years his junior. He said that his wife’s father was unsure whether to refer to him as father or son. Despite their 41-year age difference, the pair remains rock solid.
Duvall disclosed the reason for his marriage to Pedraza during an interview on the Oscar red carpet. “Women have more intuition and insights than males sometimes, and if you don’t have it, you marry into it,” he said. The duo is still married and has collaborated on various projects. One of their most renowned works is Assassination Tango, a film about a skilled New York hitman who becomes attracted by the tango while on assignment in Buenos Aires to assassinate a dictatorial general. Duvall and his companion co-wrote, directed, and acted in it.
Past of Robert Duvall
Duval discovered a co-star and soulmate in his Pedraza, although it took him much longer than he expected. He had been divorced three times before marrying his companion. He married model Barbara Benjamin Marcus in 1964, but the marriage terminated in 1975 following a rough divorce. Following that, he married Gail Youngs in 1982, which ended in divorce four years later.
The actor did not give up on finding love and married Sharon Brophy for the third time in 1991. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in divorce in 1995 as well. Speaking about his previous marriages, the actor said that he was not always the easiest guy to get along with and that his failed marriages were a natural part of life. The actor has no children from any of his marriages, including his current one. He explained it by saying, “I think I’m firing blanks.” The Lonesome Dove actor said that he attempted to create a family with a number of women, both in and out of marriage, but was unsuccessful.
