Billy Kametz Passed Away At The Age Of 35

Billy Kametz, a well-known voice actor for video games and anime, died at the age of 35 after a protracted fight with colon cancer. The administrators of his GoFundMe account announced his demise. The campaign began in May 2021, soon after Kametz stated he had stage IV colon cancer and would be taking a leave of absence from work to spend time with his family in Pennsylvania.

The GoFundMe campaign said that the monies received will be used to pay travel, insurance, medical expenditures not covered by insurance, and other everyday living expenses. As of this writing, the campaign has raised $183,598 of its $150,000 target.

The campaign will be formally concluded on June 14 to allow for “last thoughts and contributions,” according to organizers. It was also stated that any money not needed for Kametz’s treatment will go towards his burial and the celebration of his life and funeral. Kametz’s family also wanted people to give to the Colon Cancer Coalition in his memory. According to reports, his family will have a visitation on June 15, and Kametz will be put to rest on June 18.

Billy Kametz was an American voice actor best known for his roles as Josuke Higashikata in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable, Takuto Maruki in Persona 5 Royal, and Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising of the Shield Hero. Kametz was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on March 22, 1987, and grew up in Hershey, Pennsylvania. He had worked as an entertainment crew member on Disney’s cruise line before going to Los Angeles in 2016 to perform Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular.

The artist later pursued a career in voice acting, landing major parts in anime episodes like Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, Boruto, Pokemon Journeys, and Neon Genesis Evangelion, among others. For his participation in The Rising of the Shield Hero, Kametz received the Best VA Performance (EN) award at the 4th Crunchyroll Anime Awards in 2020. Kametz is well remembered by Nintendo fans for his roles in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Pokemon Masters.Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Triangle Strategy, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, and Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster are some of the other video games he has voiced.
