Career

In one of his films, he showed that one of his modified bikes costs over $100,000, indicating the enormous profits he makes from selling them. Billy spends the majority of his earnings on himself and his family, making sure they are happy.

He rose to prominence as a bike enthusiast after appearing in the Discovery Channel series “Biker Build-Off” in 2002. He created the “Hubeless” bike, which was notable for its hollow-looking back tire. Billy is still remembered for it because it drew everyone’s attention. Lane has also appeared on numerous other television and reality shows, including Monster Garage and Big!

As well as American Biker and others. Billy Lane is also known for the following tragic incident. Lane, who had his driver’s license revoked in a previous incident in North Carolina, crossed a double yellow line to pass two cars on Florida Route A1A on September 5, 2006, striking head-on the 1983 Yamaha motorcycle ridden by Gerald Morelock, 56, a park ranger at Sebastian Inlet State Park, in the oncoming lane. Morelock was seriously injured and declared dead at the scene.

Lane turned himself in connection with the tragic incident on September 21, facing charges of driving under the influence and manslaughter. At the time of the crash, his blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.192, which was more than twice the legal limit in Florida of 0.08. Gerald Morelock’s family filed a lawsuit against Lane and Chrysler. Billy Lane pleaded not guilty on the day he was charged with a second-degree felony.

The incident elicited a variety of reactions from the motorcycle community, with some advocating for harsher penalties because Lane was a motorcycle rider, while others urged leniency for the same reason.

On August 14, 2009, Lane was convicted of vehicular homicide and sentenced to 6 years in prison, 3 years of supervised probation, and the permanent loss of his driver’s license. When arguing for the maximum punishment, the prosecutor mentioned Lane’s driving record for speeding violations and a habit of poor driving. In exchange for a plea deal, prosecutors agreed to drop the felony DUI and manslaughter charges.

If Lane did not accept the plea deal, he faced up to 30 years in prison. Lane was being held at the Avon Park Work Camp and was set to be released on October 20, 2014. He was at the Orlando Transition Centre on February 24, 2013, and was released on September 18, 2014, according to the Florida Department of Corrections website.
