Career

Brian Griese was a three-year starter at Michigan, where he led the Wolverines to the 1997 National Championship (as recognized by the Associated Press). After being picked in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, he won a Super Bowl ring with the Broncos in his first season, when John Elway (for whom Griese served as the backup) guided the Broncos to a win against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII. Elway retired after the Super Bowl, and Griese took over as the Broncos’ starting quarterback for the 1999 season. Griese was a Broncos Pro Bowl selection in 2000.

Following his release from the Broncos, he started as quarterback for the Miami Dolphins (5 games in 2003), the Chicago Bears (13 games in 2006 and 2007), and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (21 games in 2004, 2005, 2008). His father is Hall of Fame quarterback Bob Griese. Griese has been with ESPN since 2009, and he will continue to serve as an analyst on the network’s college football coverage through 2020. Furthermore, Griese also worked as a radio color commentator for the Denver Broncos’ football coverage on 850 KOA (AM) from  010 to 2011. Griese joins the Monday Night Football booth in 2020 with Steve Levy and Louis Riddick.
