Buddha moved to Melbourne at the age of 17 after finishing high school.

He went on to seek a profession in cuisine. Buddha Lo was accepted to Melbourne’s William Angliss Institute. He also began working at 2 Hat Restaurant. Before receiving his diploma, Buddha obtained a scholarship to a two-month stage at the two-Michelin-starred Château Cordeillan-Bages in Pauillac, France. He got the Gordon Ramsay Excellence Award after working there for two years. He subsequently shifted his path to success toward Europe. He worked in Michelin-starred kitchens in Sweden, Copenhagen, London, and France while living in Europe. He then returned to Australia.

When he returned to Australia, he began working at a two-hat restaurant, where he received several major accolades. During his time at 2-Hat restaurant, Buddha was asked to be a guest chef at many occasions throughout Australia. Working for 3 years at 2-Hat Restaurant, he starts his successful path by working with Eleven Madison Park, New York, one of the top restaurants in the world according to San Pellegrino’s 50 best lists. He won the annual Eleven Madison Cook Battle there. And, prior to his appearance on Top Chef Season 18, he was the Executive Chef at Marky’s and Huso in New York.
