Carrie Preston And Her Husband Have A Mutual Admiration For Acting

Carrie Preston

Carrie Preston, without a doubt, is a superb actor! But the fact that she, too, had a talent crush on her husband, Michael Emerson, when she was just starting to know him, is just endearing. Preston and her husband, Michael Emerson, have been married since 1998 and are still going strong.

Carrie Preston met her husband at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.

Preston met the guy who would become her husband for the first time when he was still in school. He was pursuing a master’s degree at the Alabama School of Fine Arts. Preston was based in New York then, but she was in town for the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery. She first saw him in numerous parts in A Christmas Carol. However, as revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly (via CheatSheet), the two met on the set of Hamlet. While Emerson was portraying the main character’s boyhood buddy, Guildenstern and Preston were playing Ophelia, and he gave her a bouquet of fresh flowers and a basket of peaches from his peach tree.

Michael Emerson Was Carrie Preston’s ‘Talent Crush’

Preston revealed to People in another interview that she had a talent crush on Emerson from the start. “Within a month, I was contacting my mom and saying, ‘I met the guy I’m going to marry,'” she remembered. Thankfully, the feeling was reciprocal. Once love found them, the distance could not keep them apart. They dated for four years while commuting between New York and Alabama.
They married at a theater in her hometown of Macon, Georgia, in 1998, followed by a transfer to New York City, which Emerson dubbed “Home with a capital H.” They haven’t had any children in their almost two decades of marriage, but in 2010, the couple acquired Chumley, a poodle-Maltese cross, whom they cherish as their sole “kid.”

Preston and her husband have shared the screen on many occasions over their successful television careers. Preston, for example, appeared as a guest star in an episode of Lost and as Emerson’s character’s ex-fiancee on Person of Interest. They have collaborated on other projects such as Straight-Jacket in 2004. Ready? Ok! in 2008 and Claws in 2018. Needless to say, Preston admires her lover and regards him as a superb actor. She has said that Emerson was so skilled at what he did that she became “lost in his narrative.”

Emerson has also described his wife as a “comic genius.” The team has 10 important awards to their credit for their contributions to the art of acting. The husband had five Primetime Emmy Award nominations, two of which he won, while the wife received an Emmy Award in 2013 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
