Cesar Millan Attempted Suicide Following His Divorce From His Ex-Wife Ilusion Wilson

Cesar Millan

Cesar Millan, the fan-favorite dog trainer, is no longer married, but he was formerly married to his ex-wife Ilusion Wilson, who taught him how to be a better spouse. When their marriage ended in divorce, Millan was distraught and considered suicide. Just thereafter, his now-fiancée Jahira Dar joined his life and assisted him in moving on.

Cesar Millan’s Divorce with Ex-Wife Ilusion Wilson

Millan and Wilson’s love tale is right out of a romantic Hollywood film, with a little twist at the end. The dog trainer was 23 years old, alone and living with his six dogs after escaping Mexico at the age of 21, when Wilson, then 17, spotted him and fell in love at first sight. The duo hit it off quickly after becoming friends. But things took a turn for the worst when Millan learned he may face prison time for dating an underage female. He had left Mexico to avoid poverty, and he couldn’t risk deportation. All he could do was request that Wilson ceases seeing him.

The psychotherapist was brokenhearted but decided to stay with Millan. So, as soon as she became 18, she went to him, and the two began living together. Months later, the adolescent discovered she was pregnant. The dog specialist wasted no time in proposing to her. They married in 1994 and had their first son, Andre, the following year.

Their marriage, however, failed after a year because Millan did not appreciate their relationship. The Dog Whisperer presenter saw his wife as a necessary asset rather than as an equal partner. When his wife abandoned him and their baby son, he recognized the importance of family and his wife. In light of the divorce, he decided to go to treatment to rebuild his marriage. After six months, the couple reunited. Calvin Millan, Millan’s second son, was born in 2001 to Millan and his ex-wife. Wilson filed for divorce in July 2010 after 16 years of marriage.

Cesar Millan Devastated Due To Divorce

The timing of the divorce was undoubtedly what upset Millan the most. He hadn’t expected to see his years-long marriage fall apart due to financial difficulties. The loss of his 16-year-old dog, Daddy, had aggravated his depression. And three months later, he found out he was getting divorced. With all of his hardships, the Culiacán native considered suicide. He concocted drugs and ingested them, only to awaken in a mental facility.

His children had discovered him unconscious and rushed him to the hospital. In an interview with Today, Millan discussed the terrifying incident, saying that he was secretly begging his children to take him to their property to die. After recuperating from the tragedy, the 52-year-old understood the impact he was having on his visitors.
So he resolved to alter his life for the better, and the process got simpler as he rediscovered love with his current girlfriend Jahira Dar in 2010. He also made apologies for his past, agreeing to pay his ex-wife a one-time payment of $400,000, monthly spousal support of $23,000, and monthly child support of $10,000 after their divorce in April 2012.

Cesar Millan got engaged to Jahira Dar in 2016

Millan has been in a long-term relationship with his current girlfriend Dar, a former stylist and wardrobe consultant, since August 2010, dispelling any LGBT allegations. In April 2016, he followed through on his month-long proposal plan by telling his fiancée they were heading to Spain. He changed the tickets to Greece without telling her and brought her to a dinner date at the top of Mount Lycabettus in Athens.

While a violinist serenaded them, the dog behaviorist dropped down on one knee and proposed to his lover. In the same month, he bragged to People about his romantic proposal, stating he was pleased with his flawless plan. He also commended his fiancée and revealed how she assisted him in rebuilding his life. Millan praised Dar with terms like caring, peaceful, spiritual, clever, instinctive fun, and strong, among others.
