Choi Hyun-wook Will Be Joining The Cast Of “D.P” Second Season

Rising Korean actor Choi Hyun-wook has been confirmed to feature in the forthcoming second season of D.P. On January 10, 2023, a source from Choi Hyun-wook’s agency GOLDMEDALIST disclosed that the actor would be featured in the second season of military drama D.P. When queried about the part that he would play in the series, the source encouraged fans to watch the drama to know more, saying:

“Please check out his individual role during the drama.”

Season one of D.P., which stands for Deserter Pursuit, puts light on the bullying and prejudice widespread in the South Korean military. The story centers on a soldier called Jun-ho who became a military defector while serving his career. He is then assigned the job of tracking the “deserters,” the troops who ran away while serving in the military. It has been claimed that Choi Hyun-wook would be performing the part of Shin Ah-hwi.

Season one of Deserter Pursuit featured Jung Hae-in and Koo Kyo-hwan as the starring actors who portrayed the characters of Ahn Joon-ho and Han Ho-yul, respectively. The characters Joon-ho and Ho-yul were given the responsibility of capturing fugitive troops in the military.

The escaping troops were termed “deserters” because they quit their assigned responsibilities and fled. Joon-ho, who constantly pondered why the deserters were leaving their obligations, later realized that bullying, harassment, and prejudice caused them to go away like manner. It has been claimed that Choi Hyun-wook is slated to play the character of Shin Ah-hwi, and will conclude the episodes alongside Jung Hae-in, Koo Kyo-hwan, Kim Sung-kyu, and Song Seok-gu. Meanwhile, Ji Jin-hee and Kim Ji-hyun are the new faces entering the second season.

Shin Ah-hwi will probably support Jung Hae-in’s character and help develop the plot further. Fans are delighted to see the actor performing with Jung Hae-in, Koo Kyo-hwan, and more. However, not many facts have been disclosed concerning his character. D.P. seasons one and two have been overseen by filmmaker Han Jun-hee. Choi Hyun-wook previously collaborated with director Han Jun-hee on the current Wavve series, Weak Hero Class 1. Director Han Jun-hee has contributed to the making of the drama.

The first season of D.P. premiered in 2021 with six episodes, and people liked the realistic representation of how the military operates in South Korea. The drama was adapted from a webtoon called D.P Dog Day made by Kim Bo-tong. Actor Choi Hyun-wook has astonished audiences with his efforts in blockbuster dramas such Twenty-Five, Twenty-One, Taxi Driver, Racket Boys, Jirisan, Taxi Driver season 1, and many more.
