Chris Rock’s Brother Kenny Rock Has Spoken About The Controversial Oscars Slap

Kenny Rock

In a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times, comedian turned actor Chris Rock’s younger brother Kenny Rock voiced his thoughts on the contentious Oscars 2022 slap. While discussing the recent incident at the 94th Academy Awards in which Will Smith smacked Chris Rock, Kenny said that he was not convinced by Smith’s apologies. The 42-year-old questioned if Smith’s public apologies to Chris Rock were sincere. Kenny continued,

“It didn’t seem real to me. I believe his publicist and others who work for him persuaded him to do so.”

Following the live transmission of Chris Rock and Will Smith’s confrontation, the former’s younger brother allegedly saw the tape online. Kenny said that seeing the video “eats at” him. The younger Rock sibling went on to say that his immediate response to the smack was bewilderment. Kenny first believed the encounter was contrived, but after seeing Will Smith yell at his brother, he realized the gravity of the issue.

What is known about Kenny Rock, Chris Rock’s younger brother?

Kenny Rock, aka Kenneth C. Rock, was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 16, 1979. He is the youngest son of Julius and Rose Rock, according to reports. He is Tony’s (47) and Chris Rock’s (47) younger brother (56). While nothing is known about Kenneth Rock’s professional career, the younger Rock brother seems to have worked on a number of Hollywood productions. His first effort into film and documentary was supposedly a 1989 nine-minute movie of his brother’s rise to fame as a comedian, titled “Who Is Chris Rock?”

Later, Kenneth Rock starred in Wanly Florexile’s 2014 television film Hope a Brooklyn Story. Following that, the Brooklyn native played Cousin Paul in 2016’s Coincidental Killer. Two years later, he starred in Vesuvius as Nick Brownell. According to IMDb, this looks to be his final significant work since 2018.

Kenny Rock had much to say about Will Smith.

In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, the former actor addressed the situation, saying,

“My brother posed no danger to him, and you just did not respect him at the time. You just humiliated him in front of millions of viewers of the broadcast.”

Will Smith resigned from the Academy Awards earlier this week, and the organizing committee accepted his resignation. However, Kenny Rock went on to say that Smith should be barred from attending the Oscars in the future. In addition, Rock urged that Smith be disciplined by the Academy. Furthermore, he proposed depriving King Richard of his recent Best Actor Oscar. Meanwhile, Tony Rock, Chris Rock’s other younger brother, recently yelled at Will Smith during his comic set.
