Christine McVie Biography

Cyril Percy Absell and Beatrice Percy gave birth to him on July 12, 1943, in the Lake District village of Bouth, Lancashire, England. Her father, Cyril Percy Absell Perfect, was a violinist and music lecturer at St. Peter College of Education in Saltley, Birmingham, and a violin teacher at St. Philips Grammar School. Her mother was a psychic, medium, and faith healer. Christine was not serious about music until she was 11 years old when she was reintroduced to it by Phillip Fisher, a local musician.

She continued her classical training until she was 15 years old when her brother John brought her a Fats Domino songbook. For five years, she studied sculpture at a Birmingham art college. Her two friends, Stan Web and Andy, met in a pub one night and shifted her musical career as a singer once more. They were in a band called Sound Blue at the time. When they discovered McVie’s interest in singing, they invited her to join their band.
