Dangerous Liaisons, the ideal French romantic thriller in which love is portrayed as a game, is scheduled to be released on Netflix. The film, directed by Rachel Suissa, is based on a book of the same name written by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos and released in 1782. Célène, a 17-year-old high school girl who believes in love and is an optimist, is at the center of the story.
After breaking up with her fiancé in Paris, she moved on to attend a school in Biarritz, where she met surfing sensation, Tristan. The elite, however, has other plans for her, as she becomes the subject of a nasty bet between Tristan and Vanessa. Tristan, on the other hand, is desperate to win the bet since his blossoming connection with Célène has the potential to undermine his objectives and harm her. When can we anticipate Dangerous Liaisons to premiere?
Dangerous Liaisons will release on Netflix on Friday, July 8 at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET. Rachel Suissa and Slimane Baptist-Berhoun wrote the script for the French romantic thriller film, which was produced by Eleonore Dailly and Edouard De Lachomette.
According to the film’s synopsis:
“Célène, at the age of 17, is idealistic. She believes in unconditional love and is more interested in books than in social media. She is preparing to live away from her fiancé, Pierre, for an extended period of time, leaving Paris for Biarritz. She swiftly encounters the villainous elite of her new school, lead by Vanessa, a former big-screen star and Instagram queen, and Tristan, a dangerous and attractive famous surfer. Célène falls in love with him, but she has no idea she is at the center of a nasty bet between Tristan and Vanessa. How far are they willing to go?”

The official trailer for Risky Liaisons was released in May and highlighted Celene and her new aristocratic school in Biarritz, where she became involved in a dangerous twisted bet between her fellow pupils Tristan and Vanessa. The film has a running duration of 1 hour and 47 minutes.
This film is comparable to the ’90s classic Cruel Intentions, which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon, and Selma Blair, and was an American film version of Choderlos de Laclos’s Les Liaisons dangereuses. Novel-to-film adaptations are becoming more popular, with streaming behemoth Netflix recognized for conceptualizing and producing films based on literature for viewers all over the globe. The French film aims to modernize the classic literature. The book was also adapted into a play by Christopher Hampton in 1985.
