Gibson Gives Credit to Her Boyfriend for Assisting Her in Overcoming Lyme Disease
The 50-year-old singer revealed on her blog in 2014 that she was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2013. Gibson took to her blog after a year of being mocked for her skeleton-like figure to reveal her journey to discover her illness.
Deborah admitted that she had no idea how she got the disease. She had been tested after various symptoms began to appear, but she had not been explicitly tested for Lyme Disease. She suffered from the symptoms for a few months and forced herself to do shows now and then. Deborah tried various treatments, such as an intense cleanse and botox, to improve her appearance and manage her symptoms, which were getting worse by the day, but they only worsened her situation. Gibson was eventually diagnosed with Lymes disease after a series of doctors and tests.
Gibson admitted to Closer Weekly in an exclusive in 2018 that she received treatment and medication for Lyme disease. However, it was only with her boyfriend Taylor’s assistance that she could combat her symptoms.
As a doctor, Taylor delved into research to find a way to alleviate Gibson’s suffering. He researched Lyme disease and assisted the singer in pursuing integrative approaches such as preventive medicines and non-traditional therapies such as meditation.
Deborah went on to say that there were times when she felt great and was pain-free, and then when she became susceptible to chaos and food. She revealed that the disease had altered her immune and nervous systems. She, on the other hand, did not relent. Despite her illness, she continued to work and vowed that she would not allow the disease to define who she was.
