Don Jazzy, whose real name is Michael Collins Ajereh, was born in the state of Lagos and raised by his family in Ajegunle. Jazzy finished his education at the Federal Government College in Lagos before pursuing business management coursework at Ambrose Alli University in the state of Edo.

It’s interesting to note that Don Jazzy worked as a security guard at McDonald’s for his first employment. His continued interest in music is due to his connections to Solek and D’Banj. Emeka Infiniti taught Don Jazzy all the production techniques at the O-Town record label.

Don Jazzy worked with D’Banj to produce the albums “No Long Thing” and “Rundown/Funk You Up” for Mo’ Hits Records in 2005 and 2006, respectively.

Jazzy worked on the creation of “The Entertainer” and Wande Coal in 2008, one of the greatest Nigerian albums ever. Besides Jay-Z, D’Banj, D’Prince, sauce Kid, Kween, Dr. SID, and Ikechukwu, he has also provided vocals for them.

Jazzy was hired by Kanye West in 2011 to work as a producer at Very Good Beatz. Jazzy made an appearance in the 2012 Nollywood film The Last 3 Digits. Due to several disagreements, Jazzy and D’Banj discontinued their relationship in 2012.

Later, Jazzy declared Mavin Records to be his new record company and put out an album with songs under the same name. I’m an Oma Ga, MAVIN, Amarachi, YOLO, Forever, Take Banana, etc. Jazzy produced songs by Nigerian social activists in 2014.

2013 saw an altercation between Jazzy and Wande Coal that resulted in the artist leaving after two days. At The Headies Awards in 2015, Olamide and Jazzy got into a fight over the prize for “Next Rated.”
