He was a director of AutoZone, Inc. from July 1999 to October 2006. He was an AutoNation director until May 2007.

Eddie Lampert was born in 1962 to Dolores Lampert and Floyd M. Lampert, a housewife and senior partner in the law firm of Lampert & Lampert in New York City. Lampert also has a younger sister named Tracey. Lampert’s grandmother, a passive investor and a big fan of Louis Rukeyser’s Wall Street Week television program, instilled an interest in investing. Unfortunately, his father passed away, forcing his mother to work as a clerk at Saks Fifth Avenue. Lampert also worked at various warehouses after school and on weekends to help support his family. He received good grades despite working. As a result, he received financial assistance to help pay for college. Lampert received his B.A. in economics, summa cum laude, from Yale University in 1984.
