Angela Johnson is his girlfriend

Like many of his colleagues in the entertainment industry, the multi-talented actor prefers to keep his personal life under wraps. He openly dated and married his then-girlfriend Angela Johnson in 1998. The couple had even purchased a vacation home together and planned to marry when they called it quits.

The couple’s split has yet to be revealed, but sources speculate that it was due to a serious issue, given that the news of the split came just days after rumors of the two planning to marry surfaced.

Following the couple’s split, Johnson filed a claim for half of the house’s value, claiming that it was purchased in her name. The veteran actor, on the other hand, filed a lawsuit claiming that he owed Johnson nothing and that her name was only used to protect her privacy.

Aside from the differences, the actor stated in one of his interviews for his book ‘Law of Depravity: Revised Edition’ that after Johnson, he wasn’t seeing anyone and that the chances of him dating again were slim. In another interview, the director stated that Johnson had a significant impact on his life and that he would always remember him as a very special person. La Salle went on to say that he was having trouble picturing himself with another woman because it will always be her for him.

La Salle was able to persuade his showrunners to put an end to his on-screen romance

The veteran actor was best known for his portrayal of Dr. Benton in the hit television show ER. During his time on the show, the actor is said to have asked the showrunners to put an end to the romance between Dr. Benton and Dr. Corday, played by Alex Kingston.

La Salle made this decision because he believed his relationship with Kingston was portrayed in a more favorable light than his previous love affairs with black women. And, as an African American man, he thought it was a little offensive to show only the negative aspects of a colored relationship while portraying a multi-racial relationship in a positive light.

Following La Salle’s confrontation, the showrunners agreed to his request and ended his on-screen relationship with Kingston. Currently, the veteran actor is taking a break from acting and pursuing his other interests. He currently works as an Executive Producer for NBC’s Chicago PD.
