George Carlin was born on May 12, 1937, in New York City. His full name was George Denis Patrick Carlin, and he was from the Manhattan borough of New York City. His mother, Mary (née Bearey), is a secretary, and his father, Patrick John Carlin, is an advertising manager for The Sun. Carlin had an older brother named Patrick Jr., as well.

His father was an Irish immigrant from Cloghan, County Donegal, while his maternal grandparents were Irish immigrants. Carlin’s parents divorced when he was just two months old because of his father’s alcoholism. As a result, the Carlin siblings spent their childhood with their mother.

George Carlin’s Wife, Marriage

George Carlin met Brenda Hosbrook in August 1960 in Dayton, Ohio, while on tour with his comic partner Jack Burns. Carlin and Brenda married on June 3, 1961, at Brenda’s parents’ home. This couple had a daughter named Kelly Marie Carlin together. Kelly was born on June 15, 1963, to the couple. In the year 1971, Carlin and Brenda repeated their wedding vows in Las Vegas.

His wife, unfortunately, died of liver cancer on May 11, 1997. It was the day before he turned 60. Carlin met comedic writer Sally Wade six months after his wife died. Carlin and Sally eventually married on June 24, 1998, in a private and unregistered ceremony. Carlin’s second marriage lasted until 2008 when he died.

Only two days before his 10-year wedding anniversary with Sally Wade, George Carlin passed unexpectedly. This comic has a three-decade-long history of heart troubles.
