George Edward Foreman, better known as “Big George,” was born on January 10, 1949, in Marshall, Texas. He was born to parents Leroy Moorehead and Nancy Foreman. When Foreman was a child, his mother married another man named JD Foreman. After marrying JD, his mother relocated to Houston, Texas, with her new husband and Foreman.

Foreman grew up in Houston’s Fifth Ward with six other siblings. His stepfather was very kind to him and cared for him equally with his children and Foreman. There is little information available about Foreman’s biological father, who was never present in his life.

Foreman was a troubled kid who was frequently involved in school fights and was suspended on multiple occasions. So, at the age of fifteen, he dropped out of high school and later joined the Job Corps.

After dropping out of school, Foreman relocated to Pasadena, California, where he developed a strong interest in football. During the riots in the United States over civil rights and Vietnam, Foreman won the gold medal in the Heavyweight Boxing Championship at the Olympics in Mexico City. Following that, he decided to pursue boxing as a professional career and underwent various dynamic training sessions. He had a glorious year in 1969 and 1970, winning all of the fights he took part in.

In 1973, Foreman defeated the champion and became the new boxing king, and his success continued to rise over the next few years. His first defeat came at the hands of the legendary Mohammad Ali, so he took a break before coming back in Las Vegas after two years by winning the match. After the game, he became ill and claimed to have had a near-death experience, so he changed his career and stopped fighting in 1977.
