Gordon Lightfoot was born on November 17, 1938, in Orillia, Ontario, Canada. Gordon Lightfoot Sr. and Jessie Trill Lightfoot are Lightfoot’s parents. The Gordon was employed by a local dry claiming firm. Beverley Lightfoot is Lightfoot’s sister. His mother recognized his talent at a young age. He appeared on Too Ra Loo Rai in fourth grade. Gordon was a member of Orillia’s Paul’s United Church’s choir.
He won a competition for boys when he was only twelve years old. The singer teaches himself to play the piano and drums. Lightfoot performs in Muskoka, an Orillia resort.
