Hanco Germishuys was born in South Africa on August 24, 1996. He started playing rugby at an early age and went to school in Newton. Germishuys moved to the United States with his father in 2004 and attended Omaha’s Westside High School. Germishuys represented West Omaha in club rugby and was named to a Nebraska All-Star squad. Germishuys joined the Gloucester Academy in late 2014, scoring a try on his second outing for the U18 team. Germishuys also spent four weeks with the Sharks Academy in June 2015. Germishuys joined the Glendale Raptors (later renamed the Glendale Merlins) halfway through the 2015 season and helped them win the Pacific Rugby Premiership.

  • Germishuys joined the Denver Stampede before of PRO Rugby’s debut season in 2016. Germishuys made his Stampede debut on May 15, 2016, starting at flanker, and scored two tries in a 36-13 win against Sacramento. Germishuys scored six tries for the Stampede in nine appearances for the team.
