Heather McDonald Collapsed While Performing Her Comedy Show

According to TMZ, comedian Heather McDonald fainted on stage while performing at her comedy gig on February 6 in Tempe, Arizona. The 51-year-old comedian only managed to deliver one joke before she fainted. According to TMZ, McDonald struck her head during the fall and was taken to the hospital. According to reports, an EMT nurse in the crowd went onto the stage to assist her with first aid. Paramedics later arrived at the scene and attended to the comic.

A few hours later, McDonald tweeted a video of herself apologizing to the show’s viewers. In the video, which she shot from the hospital’s emergency department, the California native says:

“I’m very sorry. On stage, I passed out. I did one joke and felt so dizzy. When I fell, you can see my eye. Oh my God, I’m in such a bad mood. I shall return. I’ve never fainted before in my life.”

Heather Ann McDonald is a California-based comedian, novelist, and actor. She is most recognized for her work on Chelsea Handler’s E! program, Chelsea Lately. McDonald worked as a writer for the show, and her name appears in over 1100 episodes. The comedian has participated in a number of the show’s sketches and segments. She has also been acknowledged as a writer and has starred in numerous episodes of the After Lately spinoff. Heather McDonald has two stand-up specials, Juicy Scoop on Amazon Prime in 2020 and I Don’t Mean to Brag on Netflix in 2014.

She is also well-known for her immensely successful podcast, Juicy Scoop with Heather McDonald, which has over 500 episodes and over 60 million iTunes downloads. McDonald has allegedly sold out multiple concerts around the United States during her career as a comedian, which began in the mid to late 2000s. The University of Southern California alumni has also garnered 16 acting credits through her one-time appearances in roles in shows like Fraiser, Malcolm in the Middle, Drake & Josh, and others. She has also hosted TLC’s All About S*x and Hollywood Today Live. McDonald published two New York Times bestseller autobiographies, You’ll Never Blue Ball in This Town Again and My Inappropriate Life, according to her website. Heather McDonald and Peter Dobias have been married for nearly twenty years. She and Dobias have two boys and a stepdaughter.
