How Rich Is Sam Champion? Salary, Career, Net worth

Sam Champion

American weather anchor Sam Champion chose to retire after years of service on Good Morning America (GMA). But destiny had other plans for him, and he wound himself back in the same town, where he landed a lucrative job. The Paducah, Kentucky native has worked for ABC’s flagship station WABC-TV and GMA for 25 years.

Sam Champion was paid a million dollars by GMA.

Samuel James Champion, who was born on August 13, 1961, began his career as an intern at WKYT-TV in Lexington, Kentucky. He started his career at WPSD-TV in Paducah and WCWJ in Jacksonville. In 1988, Champion made a minor detour and became a weather forecaster for WABC-Eyewitness TV’s News. He joined Good Morning America in 2004 and earns $1.5 million per year. In April 2008, he made his debut as a presenter on Sea Rescue.

He joined ABC News in August 2006. The new job provided him with a salary that increased his net worth to $10 million (present). Champion left ABC in December 2013 after seven years of service to become an on-air managing editor for The Weather Channel.

What is Sam Champion up to these days?

Following his departure from GMA, Champion began presenting America’s Morning Headquarters in March 2014, but he departed AMHQ in September 2015 to contribute to its prime-time programming. Unfortunately, Champion and The Weather Channel did not extend their contract in December 2016, and he retired. Still, it was just a temporary situation since he had a new job to attend to.

Following Ginger Zee’s maternity leave, he returned to ABC in February 2018 as a fill-in weather forecaster and contributed to the weekend edition of Good Morning America. On May 22, 2019, it was reported that he will return to WABC-TV newscasts and contribute to ABC News beginning in June 2019. According to Celebrity Net Worth, he makes $2 million every year.

Sam Champion came out as gay during a friend’s wedding

During the wedding reception of Thomas Roberts and Patrick Abner in October 2012, Champion came out as homosexual. He joined his graphic artist spouse, Rubem Robierb, on the dance floor and raved about how they had been engaged in October 2012. They originally met via mutual acquaintances at a New Year’s Eve party in Miami in 2011. Champion and his Brazilian-American fiancée were married quickly. On December 12, 2012, they married at Champion’s New York City apartment.

Lara Spencer, Josh Elliot, and Robin Roberts were among the 100 guests that attended the wedding reception at the Icon South Beach, where singer Nicole Henry and producer Richard Ray-Alexander performed. It hadn’t even been a year after the wedding when Champion said he wanted to create a family with his spouse. In 2013, he told Wendy Williams on her self-titled program that he would love to have children if his hubby desired the same. However, it seems that this has not yet occurred. Nonetheless, according to his Instagram, Champion has been enjoying his married life with his hubby. He routinely uploads photos of himself and his spouse, revealing glimpses of their happy marriage.
