More information about Teddy Gentry’s life

Aside from playing for Alabama, he enjoys spending time with his family and working at Bent Tree Farms. When he received his first cheque from RCA Records in 1980, his wife Linda suggested he buy his grandfather’s land. Teddy’s grandpa, on the other hand, wanted Teddy to take over the property. Teddy Gentry became interested in the cattle industry in 1981 when he purchased a property from his great-grandfather. Teddy said the name of his property came from hearing the term Gentry as his youngster was rhyming numerous words and saying their last name – Gentry.

He disclosed that the farm’s name was Bent Tree. The next day, one of his farmboys explained that bent trees were trees that Indians would bend over when they were tiny, tie to the ground, and point in the direction the tribe was migrating. He went on:

“I called a woman at the Alabama Historical Society, who informed me that there were bent trees at the top of Lookout Mountain and Little River Canyon, which is where our property is located.” When we discovered this knowledge, we decided to rename the property Bent Tree Farms.”
