With success, he advanced to the position of arbitrageur. In December 1986, he was even featured on the cover of Time magazine. Boesky was known for always being on the phone. He reportedly became Wall Street’s highest-paid trader in 1985. During his peak career, he saw $3 billion in investments.

A group of partners, however, sued him for falsifying documents. During an investigation, it was discovered that the massive stock purchases occurred just a few days before a corporate takeover. As a result, he was charged.

Michael Milken brought another case against Ivan Boesky. Boesky was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison and fined $100 million.
