Comedian and author Jak Knight went unexpectedly to Los Angeles on Thursday night. According to a statement from his family, the co-creator of Bust Down died at the age of 28. However, the reason for his death remains undetermined. Netizens and celebrities alike have gone to social media to pay respect to the rising star after his death made headlines.

The LA-based comedian was most recognized for his work on many television programs, including black-ish and Big Mouth. A spokeswoman for the family said that fans are asked to maintain their privacy during this “very trying time.”

Originally from Seattle, the comedian eventually relocated to Los Angeles. In 2013, he contributed to the Fox animated comedy Lucas Bros. Moving Company, and the following year, Comedy Central named him a Comic To Watch. In 2015, he was selected as the New Face at the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal. In the same year, he opened for giants like as Dave Chappelle, Eric Andre, Moshe Kasher, Aziz Ansari, and Joel McHale at the Oddball Comedy Festival.

In 2017, the comedic genius became a staff writer and story editor for the Netflix series Big Mouth.
