Jered Barclay A Voice Actor Passed Away At The Age Of 91

Jered Barclay, a well-known actor, died on July 23, 2022, at the age of 91. His friend Myra Turley broke the news, further stating that he died of MDS leukemia. Barclay rose to prominence as a voiceover artist for several television shows. His funeral arrangements are yet unknown.

All About Jered Barclay

On November 22, 1930, Jered Barclay was born. He started his career in Vaudeville at the age of three, performing with Judy Garland, Shirley Temple, and Sammy David Jr. He was exposed to the world of radio when he was six years old, and at the age of twelve, he toured with the Clyde Beatty Circus. In the mid-1950s, Barclay made his cinematic debut as Frank Sinatra’s cellmate in the 1955 drama picture The Man with the Golden Arm. The picture, directed by Otto Preminger, was nominated for three Academy Awards and will be added to the National Film Registry in 2020.

Barclay appeared in TV series such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Cheyenne, The Gray Ghost, and others. He then starred in the science-fiction drama picture War of the Satellites in 1958. The picture, directed by Roger Corman, was released as part of a double feature alongside Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. Throughout the 1960s, Jered Barclay appeared in various Western programs, including Rawhide, Cheyenne, Bronco, The Dakotas, Hawaiian Eye, Surfside 6, The Case of the Dangerous Robin, Bonanza, and others. He then starred in the 1962 television film His Model Wife.

 

Barclay eventually relocated to New York and appeared in two Edward Albee pieces, Zoo Story and The American Dream, at the Cherry Lane Theatre in 1962. In 1963, he appeared in Next Time I’ll Sing to You at the Phoenix Theatre, followed by Broadway performances in Marat Sade (1963) and A Patriot for Me (1964). (1969). In 1974, he directed and choreographed Sextet at the Bijou Theatre, as well as two further plays, Rosebloom and Scandalous Memories.

Jered Barclay began his career as a voice actor for animated television shows in the early 1980s. He was first heard on Trollkins, Richie Rich, Pole Position, Foofur, and other shows. He also provided vocal work for The Smurfs and multiple characters in different episodes of The Transformers. His work on Paddington Bear received widespread acclaim.
