Jesse Rutherford And Devon Lee Carlson Are Fashion Inspirations For Couples

Devon Lee Carlson

Jesse Rutherford, for someone who sang about sweaters, may be recognized for being one of those personalities that made motorcycle jackets and monochrome ageless again. From bleaching half of his hair to having tattoos like bubblegum bubbles, his 2015 relationship with girlfriend Devon Lee Carlson was a no-brainer.

Carlson rose to prominence because of her sister Sydney’s YouTube vlogs. She rapidly developed a reputation for herself, though, thanks to her edgy dress style. She is currently best known for co-founding the phone case company Wildflower and partnering with renowned designer Marc Jacobs. Rutherford and Carlson were named ‘2019’s most 2019 pair’ by GQ. They are still the go-to for relationship fashion ideas two years later.

Rutherford and his partner began dating as adolescents and had a brief breakup in 2015. Carlson honestly said in a 2020 interview on Canadian model Charlotte D’Alessio’s YouTube channel that she had always admired Rutherford when they were at school. He was a senior at the time, and she was a junior, with completely different social circles.

She felt herself being reserved with him when they first met. For example, she was frightened to dispute with him because she feared he would lose her calm. She’d even go to the trouble of getting up early and scrubbing her teeth so he wouldn’t notice her morning breath during sleepovers. But she was just 18 years old at the time, and her naivety got the best of her.

They later split up and started seeing other individuals, only to rekindle their romance in 2015. They regained an ineffable closeness and frankness that could only be found in one other. Jesse and devon are still going strong seven years later, thanks to mutual understanding and a totally superb wardrobe.

Jesse Rutherford and his girlfriend are the ultimate fashion couple.

Rutherford is a fashion icon in his own right. He explored the aisles of Hot Topic at the local mall since he was a child. During his adolescence, he also worked at Vans and Urban Outfitters, which influenced his palette’s skater-esque vibe. He was and still is a passionate fashion shopper, and his hunger quickly outpaced the available possibilities.

This is when he moved into the women’s area and experimented with unorthodox shapes. During the early days of his band, The Neighbourhood, he was often seen dressed conservatively in sweatshirts and Dickie’s slacks. Inevitably, he found the stage to be a source of comfort and started expressing himself in narrow jeans, leather jackets, and, on occasion, going shirtless, with his many tattoos on full display. He eventually took it a step further by wearing brightly colored striped slacks that matched his hair coloring.

Now, as the Californian band’s style matures into more experimental electro-pop with their album Chip Chrome, he can be seen drawing inspiration from David Bowie and painting himself in chrome paint. Off-stage, he still dresses like Hot Topic’s mannequins, but the labels are all designer. While Rutherford plays left field, his girlfriend Carlson is the undisputed queen of what’s hot and what’s not.

She is a trendsetter, having popularized slinky slip-dresses with small sunglasses, dad hats, tie-dies, and the Y2K revival. She even made headlines with her Y2K Capsule Collection with Jacobs, which will be released in August 2021. Without a doubt, Rutherford and his girlfriend’s dress style demonstrates how well-coordinated they are with their outfits. And this is done on purpose as well. Carlson told GQ that everywhere they go, they prefer to arrive together. And when they work together, they are a force to be reckoned with.
