Josh Hamilton Stated That His Addiction Ruined His Relationship With His Family

Josh Hamilton

Former Texas Rangers player Josh Hamilton was one of the greatest performers in Major League Baseball at one time in his career. In 1999, Tampa Bay selected him first overall. However, after struggling with injuries and drug usage throughout his first few seasons, he ultimately made his major-league debut in 2007. And, wow, what a return.

The outfielder was signed by the Cincinnati Reds as a free agent, but he was moved to the Texas Rangers following his rookie season. Hamilton hit.304 in his rookie season, with 32 home runs, a league-leading 130 RBIs, and nine stolen bases. This won him his first All-Star selection as well as a Silver Slugger Award. By the time knee issues interrupted his career in 2017, the outfielder had made five All-Star appearances. Unfortunately, his career was hampered by more than simply injuries. Hamilton was dealing with inner problems that were destroying his connection with his ex-wife and kids.

Josh Hamilton and His Wife Divorce Due to Infidelity Rumors

Hamilton’s battles with heroin addiction, which started in 2001, were highly publicized. Multiple drug test failures and rehab stay harmed his career. While looking for assistance, he met his mentor and businessman, Michael Chadwick. Michael introduced him to his daughter, Katie Chadwick, the athlete’s future wife. The pair began dating in 2002 and married two years later. After 11 tumultuous years together, they filed for divorce in 2015. Katie stated to TMZ that her husband’s decision to file for divorce had taken her entirely by surprise.

“It appeared out of nowhere. There was no large brawl or explosion. Nothing triggered it. I’ve always supported him and will continue to support him. “I support and adore him now and in the future,” Hamiltons’ ex-wife added.

Years later, during an appearance on Marrying Millions, Hamilton said that her marriage ended due to Hamilton’s drug misuse troubles and personal struggles. She also said that she has no plans to divorce.

Josh Hamilton enters a guilty plea to assault his daughter.

Hamilton has three girls with his ex-wife, and he was arrested for child abuse in 2019 after beating one of them. Hamilton, according to his daughter’s claims, tossed a water bottle at her, hitting her in the chest, then shouted and yelled at her. He then scooped her up, slung her over his shoulder, dragged her to her bedroom, and put her face down on the bed.

The former Major League Baseball player smacked her legs with both an open hand and a punch. After that, he reportedly grabbed her up by her sweatshirt, slammed her back on the bed, and slapped her over the back and legs with his open palm, causing many scratches on her back. Hamilton allegedly told the victim, “I hope you go in front of the [expletive] court and tell him what a horrible father I am, so I don’t have to see you again.” Hamilton’s counsel issued a statement rejecting the accusations, but Hamilton pled guilty to them in February 2022.
