Kiki Layne recently disclosed that the majority of her and co-star Ariel Stachel’s sequences in Don’t Worry Darling were removed. Kiki rushed to Instagram to address the omission as the film was set to be released in US cinemas on September 23, 2022. Kiki Layne, well known for her roles in Beale Street Could Talk, Native Son, and The Old Guard, said on Instagram that her sequences from Don’t Worry Darling were removed. She mentioned Ariel Stachel, a Tony Award winner best renowned for his performance in The Band’s Visit.

The post’s caption reads:

“The nicest part about #DontWorryDarling is that I got to meet @arielstachel.” They edited us out of the majority of the film, but we’re doing well in real life.”

Stachel responded in the post’s comments section, saying:

“My darling. You are a queen, and your gift is radiant… I was thirsty back then, and I still am.”

The hashtags on the photo, which include “got my check,” “got my guy,” and “everything happens for a reason,” seem to corroborate that the two stars are dating.

Many sequences in Don’t Worry Darling were cut with Kiki Layne and Ariel Stachel.

Margaret and Ted, a couple from the 1950s desert village of Victory who are more than they seem, were portrayed by Kiki Layne and Ariel Stachel. Margaret, played by Layne, is said to be a trigger for Florence Pugh’s primary character, Alice, in the film. Kiki Layne just concluded production on Netflix’s The Old Guard 2 starring Charlize Theron and Chiwetel Ejiofor, for those who are unfamiliar with the actor’s past work. She has also later appeared in films such as Native Son and Coming 2 America, as well as voiced a part in Chip’n Dale: Rescue Rangers.

Ariel Stachel, on the other hand, has been in Zola, Netflix’s Jessica Jones, and the forthcoming Law & Order: Hate Crimes. While Kiki Layne stated that her moments with Stachel were deleted from the film, the two have shared some behind-the-scenes photos with their fans after the film’s premiere. Ariel shared a behind-the-scenes shot with Kiki Layne on his Instagram account. He wrote, complimenting the actor:

“My favorite aspect of my Don’t Worry Darling experience.” This lady performed an incredible job, and I was thirsty the moment I met her.”

He also turned to Instagram to express his gratitude to Kiki Layne. The following is an excerpt from the note:

“There are some really horrifying things occurring in the world right now, but I am feeling INCREDIBLY blessed to live in a country where a woman – a woman of color and a black woman – continues to shatter boundaries and fulfill all of her aspirations.” I consider myself fortunate to live in a time when I may be inspired, pushed, seen, encouraged, and on and on and on by this great lady. While the film has been plagued by controversy, including clashes between Olivia Wilde and Shia LaBeouf and Florence Pugh, it has finally been released in US cinemas.
