He played against Senior guard Simeon Career in a 53-51 victory at Madison Square Garden in the early days of his junior year. He was a member of McDonald’s All-American Team before joining the elite New York County Gauchos AAU Basketball program. He was named to the Big East All-Rookie Team after averaging 25.5 minutes per game, making him more than a regular non-starter. In 2009-2010, he started 34 games and averaged 14.6 points per game.

He led the team in scoring for the eighth time in the last nine games, with 18 points at Virginia Tech. Then he was named to the (USBWA) United States Basketball Writers Association’s First Team All-District. Later, in 2010-2011, he played twelve games, leading the nation with 26.7 points per contest.
