He played against Senior guard Simeon Career in a 53-51 victory at Madison Square Garden in the early days of his junior year. He was a member of McDonald’s All-American Team before joining the elite New York County Gauchos AAU Basketball program. He was named to the Big East All-Rookie Team after averaging 25.5 minutes per game, making him more than a regular non-starter. In 2009-2010, he started 34 games and averaged 14.6 points per game.

He led the team in scoring for the eighth time in the last nine games, with 18 points at Virginia Tech.
