Larry Hoover Biography

Larry Hoover was born on November 30, 1950, in Jackson, Mississippi, United States. When he was four years old, his family relocated to Chicago, Illinois. He began his criminal activities with his friends at the age of 12 and began committing crimes such as theft and mugging. He and his local friends dubbed themselves “Supreme Gangsters.” He eventually rose to the position of group leader.

Career

Larry Hoover began his criminal career when he was 12 years old. As a member of the “Supreme Gangsters,” he began committing crimes such as theft and mugging. He eventually rose to the position of a group leader. He then merged his gang with a rival gang led by David Barksdale, and the group became known as “Black Gangster Disciple Nation.”

They then began to commit more serious crimes, such as shooting and assault. By the time he was in his twenties, he had been in and out of prison several times and had survived multiple assassination attempts. On February 26, 1973, he ordered the execution of William ‘Pooky’ Young, a 19-year-old man accused of stealing money and drugs from the gang.

Andrew Howard, a Gang member, abducted Young and later shot him. As a result, Larry Hoover and Andrew Howard were both charged with murder and sentenced to prison terms ranging from 150 to 200 years. As a result, he was transferred to Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill, Illinois, to serve his sentence. This did not deter him, and he continued to control the gang from behind bars. In fact, following the death of David Barksdale in 1974, he took control of Chicago’s South Side.

Under his leadership, the gang also gained control of the South Side drug trade. He claimed to have left his criminal life behind by the early 1990s, and the gang began participating in charity events and political protests. It was later discovered that these practices were only used to launder drug money, with no assistance from charities. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1997 for drug conspiracy, extortion, and continuing to run the gang from prison.
