Maci Montes- One Of The Contestant Of “So You Think You Can Dance”

Maci Montes

On Wednesday night, So You Think You Can Dance returned with an all-new, high-energy episode. The fourth phase of tryouts, titled The Big Cut – Choreography Round, concluded this week, followed by the much-anticipated choreography round. While fans were eager to watch the finalists perform, many were disappointed by Maci Montes’ early departure from the reality TV series.

Maci turned heads during her So You Think You Can Dance audition performance. Her innovative maneuvers wowed the judges. The three judges, Stephen tWitch Boss, Matthew Morrison, and Jojo Siwa, awarded her a yes without hesitation and moved her to the choreography round. Maci returned this week, hoping to wow the judges during the choreography round with a modern rendition of Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody. Unfortunately, her movements were not exactly correct, therefore she was eliminated and did not advance to the next round.

Fans were outraged by the judges’ decision to dismiss Maci without offering her a second shot at Dance For Life.

Fans were dissatisfied with the judges when Maci was eliminated from So You Think You Can Dance. Fans went to Twitter to express their disappointment that Maci did not make it past the choreography round. Some people believe that following her immaculate audition performance, the judges should have given her a second opportunity.

In March 2020, as a mental health advocate, Maci took to social media to share her incredible achievement. She announced to her fans that she had been sober for a year and that she “no longer walked on ice.” The competitor spoke out about her journey and fight with mental illness during her audition for So You Think You Can Dance. She revealed,

“I’ve gone through a lot in my life. Growing up was difficult. I had several mental health difficulties. When I was 12, I was diagnosed with depression for the first time. It was difficult. There were times in my life when I tried to take it away from myself.”

Maci went on to say that when she recovered, she gradually began to return to dancing. She went on to say that her family was her rock. Her audition performance not only gave the audience shivers, but they also said it was fantastic. So You Can Consider Judge Nigel Lythgoe also praised Maci for her performance, saying her narrative had him in tears in a tweet.

Although Maci’s adventure on So You Think You Can Dance ended sooner than expected, supporters hope she returns next season. So You Think You Can Dance airs on Fox every Wednesday night at 9 p.m. ET. Readers may find additional information in their local listings.
