Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy Charged With Two Further Rapes

Benjamin Mendy, a Manchester City defender, has been charged with two additional counts of rape.

Mr. Mendy, Prestbury, was summoned to Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. The 27-year-old footballer, still detained, is now charged with six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. The charges are against four complainants over 16, said to have occurred between October 2020 and August 2021.

Louis Saha Matturie had previously been charged with four counts of rape concerning the alleged attacks between March and August 2021. The France international has been with last season’s Premier League champions Manchester City since 2017, when he joined for a reported £52 million from Monaco. After being charged by police, he was suspended by the club pending an investigation.

The Eccles resident, 40, has also been charged with two additional counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. Afterward, has been summoned to appear in court. Both men are scheduled to stand trial on January 24, 2022.
