Career

Mark worked as an assistant coach for Jim Harrick at UCLA for eight years. Furthermore, with Gottfried as an assistant coach and recruiter, the Bruins won the NCAA championship in 1995. As a result, the Bruins were ranked first in the country for their recruiting class in 1994.

As head coach at Alabama, Mark faced his former school twice. Similarly, he was the head coach at Murray State University from 1995 to 1998, compiling a 68–24 overall record. Murray State advanced to the NCAA tournament in 1997 and 1998, and he made the NIT in his first season there in 1996.

This individual led the Racers to Ohio Valley Conference championships in each of his three seasons as head coach, becoming the first head coach in OVC history to do so. On March 25, 1998, Mark was hired by the University of Alabama.

However, the following year, his team became the first in Crimson Tide history to be ranked No. 1 in the AP poll. This personality was also named SEC coach of the year by the Associated Press and his fellow coaches.
