Mark Richt was born in Omaha, Nebraska on February 18, 1960. Helen and Lou Richt are his parents. They had five children together, with Mark being the second oldest. Mark’s father worked as a die maker for Western Electric. Katharyn Francis of Tallahassee, Florida, is his wife. They have four wonderful children together.

Mark was forced to relocate to South Florida when Lou was transferred in 1973. As a result, Mark continued his education in Florida and graduated there. He had been a dedicated athlete since elementary school and had won numerous awards and titles for his efforts.

Career

Mark Richt has been a football player for 14 years. He played for the University of Miami from 1978 to 1982. Howard Schnellenberger, a national champion at the time, was the team’s coach at the time. He was a backup quarterback for Jim Kelly, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Earl Morrall, the University of Miami’s quarterback’s coach, mentored him and helped him develop as a strong athlete. Despite playing for a relatively short period of time in comparison to other athletes, Mark has amassed approximately 1,500 passing yards. Several NFL teams have expressed interest in Mark as well.

His coaching career began in 1985 when he began working as a graduate assistant for the Florida State Seminoles. When he was 29, East Carolina University hired him as an offensive coordinator!

He was hired as the quarterback’s coach at Florida State University in 1990. He received numerous promotions at the university and was able to propel the Seminoles to the top of the national rankings charts. As a result, Mark worked as the head coach at the University of Georgia and is now the head coach at the University of Miami.
