Matthew David Cameron, better known as Matt Cameron, is a well-known American musician. He is well-known for his work as a drummer for Pearl Jam. He began with Seattle, Skin Yard, and Bam Bam before becoming known as Soundgarden’s drummer.

In his eleven years with Soundgarden (1986-1997), he appeared on every studio album released by the band. Following the band’s dissolution in 1997, he joined Pearl Jam in 1998 and became a permanent member of the band group. Cameron was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Pearl Jam on April 7, 2012.

Matt Cameron was born and raised in the city of San Diego, California. As a child, he began playing the drums at an early age. He and his classmates were members of the cover band “Kiss.” He was only thirteen years old at the time. Cameron graduated from Bonita Vista High School. Cameron sang the song “Puberty Love” in 1978, which was featured in the film Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Cameron has one older brother, Pete.

Career

In 1983, he relocated to Seattle, Washington, and took a job at a Kinko’s. He got his first professional break as a drummer with Bam Bam. Cameron joined the Skin Yard band in 1985 and stayed for a year. During this time, he contributed two songs, one of which was titled “Reptile.”

Cameron joined Soundgarden in September 1986, replacing drummer Scott Sundquist.
