Michael Paul Beasley Jr. was born in Cheverly, Maryland, on January 9, 1989, to Fatima Smith and Michael Beasley Sr. He has two brothers, Leroy Ellison and Malik Smith, as well as two younger sisters, Mychaela Beasley and Tiffany Couch.

Michael Beasley began playing basketball for the PG Jaguars in high school and went on to win multiple national championships.
