Myles Richard Bass was born on November 27, 1969, into a Christian Science household in Boston, Massachusetts, in the United States. The majority of his formative years were spent in Spokane, Washington. Kennedy’s father passed away when he was four years old, and his mother later wed a Methodist minister.

He completed his education at Mead High School, where he also played trumpet in the marching band and guitar in the jazz band. In 1990, Myles Kennedy joined the Cosmic Dust Fusion Band as their main guitarist, marking the beginning of his career as a musician.
