Nicholas King Nolte was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on February 8, 1941. His father, Franklin Arthur Nolte, was a farmer’s son and an Iowa State University football star, while his mother, Helen, worked as a department store buyer. He has one sister, Nancy, who works as a Red Cross executive.
He is descended from English, Scottish, German, Scots-Irish, and Swiss-German ancestors. During his scholastic years, he, like his father, enjoyed football.
