Olivia Rodrigo Won Her First MTV Movie And TV Award For Best Music Documentary

Olivia Rodrigo, an American singer-songwriter, has won her first MTV Movie and TV award for Best Music Documentary for Olivia Rodrigo: Driving Home 2 U. (A Sour film). Stacy Lee directed the documentary, which debuted on Disney+ in March. Rodrigo was up against Janet Jackson for the same-named documentary, Kanye West for Jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy, Oasis for Oasis Knebworth 1996, and The Beatles for The Beatles: Get Back.

On June 5, 2022, the MTV Movie and TV Awards were hosted in the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. It was the 30th anniversary of the awards event.

Rodrigo said in a statement,

“Thank you very much for this honor, MTV. This CD means a great deal to me. Making a video to give it more context and significance was a lot of fun.”

 

She went on to say:

“Winning this award is incredibly significant since the fans voted for it.” And I am eternally thankful to everyone who has helped me, my music, and my film.”

She expressed gratitude to her fans by saying:

“I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you people. The love you’ve given me has really changed my life.”
