The 64-year-old attended Sarasota High School in Florida. Later, he attended Boston University and the California Institute of the Arts. Reubens is the eldest of three children; his younger brother, Luke Rubenfeld, is a dog trainer, and his younger sister, Abby Rubenfeld, is an attorney. She is also the legal director of the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, a national gay and lesbian civil rights organization.

Arrested Several Times

Reubens is no stranger to the law. He’s been arrested several times. His first run-in with the law occurred when he was 18 years old. He was arrested on suspicion of marijuana possession. He was arrested in 1983 for allegedly “loitering and prowling” in front of an adult bookstore. The incident had little impact because the charges were later dropped.

In 1991, Paul’s career suffered a devastating setback. He was apprehended during a police raid at the South Trail Cinema, an adult theater in Florida. He was released from the county jail after posting a $219 bond for indecent exposure to a sexual organ.

After 11 years, he was arrested again in 2002 on a misdemeanor charge. In his home, police discovered materials that appeared to depict child pornography.
He accepted responsibility by labeling several collections’ images as obscene and paying a $100 fine.

Faced with three years probation, he also agreed to participate in a year-long counseling program and to register as a sex offender until the end of his probation. He was released on a $20,000 bail.

Relationship of Paul Reubens

In 1989, the Buffy The Vampire Slayer star married Chandi Heffner, the late American heiress Doris Duke’s adopted daughter. They first met in Hawaii. Reubens revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that they married in an impromptu “mock wedding ceremony” during dinner.

Following the divorce, Reubens began dating TV personality Debi Mazar in 1993. She assisted him in re-entering the industry following his arrests. They were in a relationship for about two years before splitting up amicably.

Reubens hasn’t been linked to anyone since then. He’s also been tight-lipped about his relationship status, which has fueled gay rumors. However, the actor from The Blacklist has remained silent on the subject.

His Movies and TV Shows, as well as his Net Worth

Being a neighbor of the ‘Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus,’ (an American traveling circus company billed as The Greatest Show on Earth), Paul Reubens grew up with a strong interest in comedy and acting.

He began performing in local theatres at 11 and later joined The Groundlings, an improvisational comedy troupe. During his time with the group, he developed his iconic character, Pee-Wee Herman.

After running his own The Pee-Wee Herman Show at The Roxy Theatre in 1981, he was able to catch HBO’s attention. He aired his show as part of the channel On Location series. His persona quickly became a brand. He appeared in films like Pee-Big wee’s Holiday, and Comedy Bang! Bang!, Saturday Night Live, and The Pee-Wee Herman Show on Broadway.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, he has a net worth of $5 million due to his more than 100 acting credits. Interestingly, HBO revealed to Deadline in March 2021 that it planned to air a two-part documentary about Reubens and his beloved character.
