Rae Carruth

Rae Carruth is part of a much larger group of athletes who have turned criminals; however, OJ Simpson may still be the poster boy for that group.

Carruth was sentenced to 18 years in prison for murdering his girlfriend, Cherica Adams, while she was pregnant with their son, Chancellor Lee Adams.

Rae Carruth’s girlfriend was expecting a child.

Carruth was a first-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in 1997, and in his rookie season, he scored four touchdowns and caught 44 passes, earning him a spot on the NFL All-Rookie team.
Marca stated that he first met Cherica a year after signing his contract, in June 1998. Their first meeting took place at a pool party.

Cherica was already expecting a child by April of next year, according to reports.

Carruth Rae Had a Son With an Ex-Girlfriend

Carruth’s pregnancy was not her first. He was still paying child support to Michelle Wright, a former girlfriend, for their son Raelondo.

Carruth was once sued for not paying child support, according to some sources.

Whatever the case may have been, he was already a father of one child and was about to become a father of two. He, on the other hand, was not keen on having a child with Cherica, at least not at the time.

As a result, he requested that she abort the pregnancy. Regrettably, she declined. She made the decision to keep the life that was growing inside of her alive.
She had no idea that her boyfriend was hell-bent on having the abortion. He was so enamored with her that he didn’t mind if she died in the process.

The Dreadful Day

Cherica was shot four times in the stomach with a.357 caliber revolver on November 16, 1999, when she was eight months pregnant.

She managed to dial 911 and get through to the former NFL receiver’s home in Charlotte, North Carolina. Unfortunately, the damage was already done.

Carruth had hired a hitman, Van Brett Watkins Sr., to murder his girlfriend while he was present, according to authorities.

Cherica was reportedly driving her car when she met her untimely demise, according to Insider.

Their son Chancellor Lee was born after she was rushed to a medical facility and had an emergency cesarian section.

However, he was born with cerebral palsy as a result of his premature birth and the severity of his mother’s injuries. The brain had been permanently damaged due to a lack of oxygen.
The girlfriend was placed in a coma and died a month later.

Carruth was sentenced to 18 to 24 years in prison for his heinous crime. He was released in October 2018 after serving his sentence.

The Son was a survivor.

Chancellor is not only surviving but thriving, thanks to his grandmother and Cherica’s mother, Sandra Adams.

Although the adolescent will not be able to live independently, he has made progress in areas that his doctors thought were impossible, such as walking with assistance and conversing with everyone he meets.
He was well aware of all the “nevers” that had been imposed on him in his early years. He wasn’t supposed to be able to walk, talk, sit up, or even eat by himself. Despite this, he had faith.

“I was able to hear what they were saying because of my strong faith. ‘But, I know there’s a miracle worker, and he’ll be my miracle boy,’ I said, “he said once.
