Rami Malek was born on May 12, 1981, in the city of Angeles County, California. He is 39 years old right now. He was born to Egyptian immigrant parents, Said Malek, a travel agent and tour guide who became fascinated with Western visitors, and Nelly Abdel-Malek, an accountant. Rami also stated that he is an “eight Greek.” Sami, Malek’s identical twin brother, is an ESL and English teacher. Yasmine, his older sister, works in an emergency room. Due to cultural differences, Rami found it challenging to form a self-identity and assimilate as a child. He went to Notre Dame High School and took a musical theatre class. Rami’s parents wished for him to become a lawyer, and he eventually joined the debate team first year. When his debate teacher noticed him struggling to form arguments, he recognized his talent for dramatic interpretation. He encouraged him to compete in the one-person play ‘Zooman and The Sign.’ After graduating in 1999, Rami studied theatre at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana, and spent a semester abroad at Harlaxton College in Lincolnshire, England. During the summer before his senior year, Malek interned at the Eugene O’Neil Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut, where he met playwright August Wilson. In 2003, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He was later honored with a 2017 Young Alumnus Award.
