Career

Reanne Evans rose to prominence in 2009 when she won 61 straight women’s matches and defeated world champion John Higgins 4-3 in the Six-red World Championship. She was the first woman to compete on the primary snooker circuit since Allison Fisher in 1994-95. She was given a wild card to the primary circuit for the 2011-12 season, allowing her to compete in all ranking tournaments at the qualification level. On the other hand, Evans did not win a single match on tour throughout her season, suffering 18 losses in a row.

Evans won a number of Q-School matches throughout the 2012/13 season, earning a spot in the qualifying stages for the 2013 Wuxi Classic. She competed as a novice. After defeating Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in the qualifying round, she was set to face world number two Neil Robertson in the round of 64. Despite entering as an amateur, she became the first woman to reach the final games of a ranking snooker event.
