RHONJ Star Jackie Goldschneider Discusses About Her Battle With Anorexia

Jackie Goldschneider

In a recent episode of Bravo’s RHONJ Season 12, housewife Jackie Goldschneider came out about her struggle with anorexia. Jackie and her husband Evan Goldschneider were out for an early supper while their children were at sleepaway camp when she opened up about her anorexic experience. When Jackie weighed herself on the scale and saw how thin she had become, she felt things were getting out of hand. She feared she would die if she didn’t quit after years of extreme exercise and a restricted diet due to anorexia.

She stated during her chat with Even Goldschneider:

“I’m afraid of eating and afraid of gaining weight, yet I’m always hungry.”

Jackie Goldschneider, star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, discusses her struggle with anorexia.

Jackie Goldschneider did not want to eat anything that might lead to a discussion about her fight with anorexia while having an early supper with her husband. Jackie recounted fainting when the pair met Evan’s pals while dating.

“I got it from somewhere where I didn’t consume anything. Do you recall those times? I was on the verge of death. I felt I was healed when I finally began my recovery and was able to eat anything I wanted. I’m not sure, I’m not alright. Last year was quite difficult for me. I did go into a little hibernation.”

The RHONJ star Jackie said she shouldn’t be pleased with herself since she was underweight. She said she would prefer an early supper since she did not want to eat. Evan answered by stating that “it is not life.” Evan also said their children had seen Jackie’s “ritualized” eating habits of just eating salads, which made her sad. She stated:

“That irritates me greatly. It’s one thing if I do it to myself, but it’s quite another if I convince my children that it’s typical conduct… I’m worried I’ll relapse and commit suicide. I simply don’t want to do it any longer.”

Evan said that he had been worried about Jackie for a long time and was happy to see that she was now opening up and sharing her story with him. Evan recommended they see a therapist, and Jackie consented. He stated:

“The realization is wonderful, and I’ll be there to assist you every step of the way. I’m your partner; if you’re in pain, I’m in pain.”

Jackie had already discussed the matter with RHONJ actresses Melissa Gorga and Margaret Josephs over breakfast. Jackie spoke out about her experience with anorexia in an interview with PEOPLE. She stated:

“I’m incredibly proud of myself for making it through since it was so difficult.” It’s not a good way to live. It’s dreadful. It was just dreadful. And I’m hopeful that by sharing my story, I’ll be able to assist those who, like me, suffer in silence. Because I wish I’d known I’d get through it one day. It was always a worry of mine that I’d never quit doing this.”
