In 2020, Roman Kutuzov remained Chief of Staff of the 29th Combined Arms Army. He was a Major General at the time of his death on June 5, 2022. During the struggle for Sievierodonetsk–Lysychansk in Lysychansk, Ukraine, General Roman Kutuzov was killed in the hamlet of Mykolaivka. He was leading the Donetsk People’s Republic’s 1st Army Corps when he died at Mykolaivka. During his military service, Roman Kutuzov received several medals and distinctions.
