Ron DeSantis received his Reserve Naval officer’s commission and assignment to the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) in 2004 at the United States Naval Reserve Center in Dallas, Texas. He was the commander of the Joint Task Force-Guantánamo. Ron alerted the Naval Special Warfare Command Group in Coronado, California, while serving on SEAL Team One, and was assigned to work in Iraq.
He returned to the United States in April 2008 and was assigned to the Naval Regio Southeast Legal Service. After being assigned by the US Department of Justice, he served as an assistant US attorney. He received the Bronze Star Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Navy, the Iraq Campaign Medal, and the Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
