He first gained prominence as Andy Griffith’s son Opie on “The Andy Griffith Show” and also appeared on “Happy Days” as youngster Richie Cunningham. He is of American nationality and comes from a mixed ethnic heritage, having ancestors from Germany, England, Scotland, Ireland, and the Netherlands.
