Rotimi And Vanessa Mdee Are Expecting Their Second Child

Rotimi and Vanessa Mdee are expecting their second child. While chatting with People, the couple confirmed the news, saying,

“We’re thrilled to announce the arrival of our newborn daughter.” What a lovely testimony of God’s goodness. We are ecstatic.”

The images published by People show the couple disclosing that they are having a girl as Rotimi opens an umbrella, causing pink confetti to pour down on them. They already have a son, Seven, who was born in September of last year. Rotimi and Vanessa revealed the baby’s name and posted a close-up shot of him on their Instagram profiles. Rotimi shared the news on Instagram, writing, “Feeling Blessed.”

The couple also told People about the birth of their first child, saying they were thrilled to meet their son. They remarked that everything about this experience was a new challenge for them as first-time parents, and they enjoyed it. The pair met during an Essence Festival afterparty in New Orleans and have been together ever since. They plan to marry in Atlanta in December 2020.

Vanessa Mdee, 34, is a singer, rapper, TV personality, and presenter. In 2007, she auditioned for the MTV VJ Search, and in 2008, she co-hosted the Coca-Cola Chart Express alongside Carol and Kule. She was the first Tanzanian VJ on MTV. She continues to present programs in Tanzania and beyond Africa. Vanessa Mdee hosted Senses, Sounds, and Wisdom with Zantel at the 2009 Sauti Za Busara. She presented the MTV Africa Music Awards red carpet event for three years before becoming the anchor of The Hitlist on 102.5 Choice FM in 2011, where she interviewed musicians like Kelly Rowland, Rick Ross, Ludacris, Tay Grin, Dr. Sid, and others.

Mdee hosted an MTV Base Meets program in 2012 and auditioned for BET’s 106 & Park, but was not hired. She began her music career in 2012 when she worked on Ommy Dimpoz’s track “Me and You.” Closer, her debut single was published in 2013 and garnered four nominations at Tanzania’s Music Awards.

Vanessa presented MTV Base’s Hunters Oasis, which was followed by Epiq Bongo Star Search season 7 and Dume Challenge. In November 2013, she released another song, Come Over. She also appeared in the second season of Coke Studio Africa, when she sang with Nigerian singer Burna Boy.

Vanessa Mdee signed an endorsement agreement with Crown Paints in 2014 to become their Tanzanian brand ambassador, and she paired with Tanzanian artist Barnaba Elias to produce their new duet, Siri. The following year, she agreed to become a brand ambassador for Samsung Tanzania. Nobody But Me, her sixth single, was released the same year. She has performed at several events, including Mombasa Rocks, as well as at Dodoma, Morogoro, Arusha, Houston, and other cities. In 2019, she served as a judge on the inaugural season of East Africa’s Got Talent. Vanessa Mdee’s first album, Money Mondays, was released in January 2018, and she also participated in numerous episodes of MTV Shuga Down South as Stormi the glam madam.
