Scott Edward Adkins was born into a butchering family. He is of English ancestry, but his great-grandmother was Spanish. He first became interested in martial arts at a young age, when he and his father and brother visited a local Judo club. His interest in martial arts grew even more after he was robbed at the age of 13. He began practicing Taekwondo the same year and received his black belt at the age of 19. Scott began practicing Kickboxing with Anthony Jones at the age of 16, and he eventually became the Professional Karate Association’s kickboxing instructor. Scott Adkins has also participated in Acrobatic Gymnastics.

Scott’s first break came in 2001 when he was cast in the Hong Kong martial arts film Dei Seung Chui Keung. Adkins visited the East for the first time when he was given the opportunity to work with some of Hong Kong cinema’s most renowned action directors, including Yuen Woo-ping, Corey Yuen, and Jackie Chan.

More acting opportunities followed, and he was offered a guest role in the BBC’s Doctors in 2000.
